Doubt

So last week was an extremly hard week. I did all of my runs but it was hard to stay focused. I'm starting to doubt that I'm going to be able to make it more than 5 miles much less a whole half. My heart just wasn't in it last week, how am I going to make it through 6 miles this week?

Streach and Socks

I was always taught to streach before you run. Do a few leg streaches and after how my shoulder feel I think I've decided that its important to streach you're arms too. My shoulder is killing me!!!

Thursday morning I went running without sox. See, Logan was waking up and if he see's me he just screams for me so I was trying to get out of the house before he saw me and I forgot my sox. I have so many blisters!! I guess I'm going to have to try the sox thing. Thanks for the tip Bec.

Socks Socks Socks!

Okay, this might be somewhat of a soap box blog, but after my run last night I thought I should share this with you.

One of my biggest mistakes that I made when I was learning and training before was in my socks. When I first started out I was just wearing plane jane cotton socks. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I kept getting blisters on the most random places, so I would try different shoes and it didn't make much difference. Finally after running my half marathon and ending up with feet that looked like this,

I decided to try a different pair of socks.  I bought some athletic socks with Moisture wicking material and it made all of the difference in the world.  I don't know if you have a problem with your socks, but if you start getting blisters it might be worth a try!

One week down a few more to go!

Well Jen Rea I appreciate the sacrifice. I don’t know what else you can drink but after we are done running our half if you want a coke I’ll buy you one.

So girls I don’t know how to warm up. I usually walk for about 2 minutes and then just start running. I have found that I then need to stop after about a mile and walk for a minute or so. I think that maybe if I warmed up better I wouldn’t need to stop. Any suggestions on how to warm up? Is walking for a couple of minutes before running all I need to do?

So, I just wanted to let you girls know what a huge sacrifice I'm making so that I can run with you all. I am giving up soda...that's right...no more coke for me. Its been really sad and hard but I'm living through it. :0) I decided that the carbonation was killing me when I tried to run and I need to be able to keep up with everyone. I've been a whole 24 hours without a coke and am trying very hard to stay motivated. Wish me luck and good luck to you all!!! Oh and if you have any suggestions as to what I can drink instead of coke I'd appreciate it.

First Day of Training!!

This was a great idea Bec, thanks for getting the blog together.

So I started my training today. I did a little over two miles this morning in 24 minutes. I had to push Drake in the stroller and I hate running while I'm pushing a stroller. It is soo much harder! I'm sure it's not so bad if you have a nice stroller but I have a ten year old stroller that is barely holding together and it's like trying to run while draging my kid with me. Anyway I did the run, I had to stop and walk once around the 1 1/2 mile point. I was a little dissapointed but I made it through.

I hope you all enjoy your runs this week.

Here We Go... Here We Go

So Ladies -

I thought this would be a good idea since we are all in different areas maybe to keep each other in the loop of how training is going and keep each other motivated. If there is one thing I have learned it is that you need all the support and motivation you can get.

I am so exited to be running with you guys! Thanks for inviting me. I am going to make all of you authors so you can post what you want to.... Also, what are your thoughts on making this a private blog? I am okay either way, but if you want it private let me know and I can change it!

Good Luck! Remember, we can do this. When you feel like stopping just keeping putting one foot in front of the other!

"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the
mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give
up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the
mind is not tired."
