Well Jen Rea I appreciate the sacrifice. I don’t know what else you can drink but after we are done running our half if you want a coke I’ll buy you one.

So girls I don’t know how to warm up. I usually walk for about 2 minutes and then just start running. I have found that I then need to stop after about a mile and walk for a minute or so. I think that maybe if I warmed up better I wouldn’t need to stop. Any suggestions on how to warm up? Is walking for a couple of minutes before running all I need to do?

  1. Hey Kari -

Most people will suggest that you don't really stretch before the run, but just start by walking slow for a couple of minutes and then pick it up gradually, take about 5-10 minutes to warm up. After you are done with the run then cool down for 5 - 10. I usually just take about 5 to warm up and 5 to cool down, but remember to stretch after your run. When you are stretching make sure they are fluid stretches (Don't bounce especially when stretching out your leg muscles) Remember, you can do this!
